Q: How much space is required for office-based procedures?
A procedure room large enough for the surgical team, equipment, and the anesthesiologist.
The anesthesiologist must have access to the head of the bed airway management.
The procedure room will be used for the initial recovery period.
ACNJ Mobile will do a site visit to determine if any other things are required.
Q: What staff and equipment does ACNJ Mobile Anesthesia Services provide?
ACNJ Mobile provides one physician anesthesiologist.
Provides all monitors.
Provides all anesthesia medications except local anesthetics administered by the surgeon.
Provides two oxygen tanks.
Provides Emergency medications.
Provides defibrillator.
Provides portable suction machine.
Provides anesthesia documents including anesthesia record, consent, and post-anesthesia instructions.
Q: What staff and equipment does the practice need to supply?
The surgeon's office supplies only those items necessary to perform the procedure.
Supplies any staff needed to assist in the surgical procedure.
An RN is preferred, though not required, to assist in post anesthesia recovery.
Q: Are there any issues related to malpractice that the surgeon needs to be aware of?
A:
The surgeon should contact his/her malpractice carrier for specific details of coverage.
Q: What types of policies does the practice need to have in order to minimize risk and optimize safety?
ACNJ Mobile will provide policies on related the delivery of anesthesia.
The office should have a policy on the transfer of a patient to the hospital if that becomes necessary.
